students looking at the parts of a bison

Fourth graders enjoyed learning about Oklahoma's state mammal, the bison, from Ranger Larry. He shared with them the history of the bison--going from thousands to almost becoming extinct when the railroads were built. The kids learned that ALL the bison parts were used by the Native Americans--including the bladder! The students especially enjoyed getting to look at the fur, bones, etc. up close and even getting to touch the items.
