The Arbor Day Art Contest is a traditional part of Edmond’s Arbor Week Celebration, in which Edmond fifth-grade students create artwork surrounding their interpretation of the theme, "Trees In Our Town". In 2011, the Arbor Day Art Show was established to showcase multiple works from each school, displaying varying interpretations of trees by Edmond’s youth, now taking place at the Edmond Historical Society & Museum. Not only does the Arbor Day Art Contest serve as a fun annual event, but it also opens up dialogue and consideration about the vast benefits of trees among the future caretakers of the Edmond environment.
